8/7/07 - I completely forgot about one month ago

So it has been over a month, almost two! since I updated last.  I needed to go ahead and do that.  This summer has been not boring at all and I am so glad I made the decision to stay here, divine influence if you will.  I worked at the IT Office and did a bunch of random crap throughout that stint; I did research with Dr. Morrison and we achieved every single goal that was laid out at the beginning of the summer sans one; and I did a lot of traveling.

The traveling is the best part.  Melissa and I mostly traveled together for and ended up in St. Louis, Moraine View State Park, and we went to her cabin and my house for a week.  I also made one trip by myself home at the beginning of July.  I am going to put pics up pretty soon, so keep a look out.  Going home twice was absolutely awesome.  I had to pull hay from the fields the first trip, but the second trip Melissa and I both went up (first to her cabin) and spent 4 days seeing the sights.  She went to her first drive-in theater and we saw Harry Potter and the Robin Williams movie about the church (can't remember the name).

There was much partying this summer between Anton, Phuong, and Casey being here.  Plenty of alcohol was imbibed and we had a lot of fun.  There are plenty of pictures.  We hung out, watched movies, played drinking games.  It was as fun as school, without the homework.

I will attempt to keep updating for the...well, 2 people that read this.

6/12/07 - I'm watching you

So here's the deal.  I'm stuck here for the summer.  Well, that sounds too gloomy.  I love staying on campus for the summer; I have a steady job, I'm doing research, my girlfriend is here, and there's plenty of room for travel.  I went camping with Melissa on June 2nd and 3rd at Moraine View State Park which is only a twenty minute drive away, but came to the sad realization that there is no drive-in movie theater within a half hour of where I live.  I was quite saddened.  But on the way to the campsite, we had to drive through the Moraine Wind Farm and I took a panoramic.  It's a lot bigger and wider because this is just a thumbnail.

I also caught a bunny as he was trying to play Frogger going across Main Street.  He hid under a van, then I chased him on rollerblades for about ten minutes until I got him cornered in a doorway.  He was amazingly cute, especially since I haven't seen a small rabbit for a long time.  I took him back to my room and took a picture of him before letting him go near Presser Hall.  He hid in a corner for a really long time and I left him alone.  Sad days.

Other than that, nothing much is new.  For those of you interested, my research consists of constructing a Holographic Speckle-Pattern Interferometer and studying fluid dynamics, heat transfer, and vibrational patterns in musical instruments.  We just got the entire floating table cleared for our use and it looks awesome right now.  Hopefully Wednesday will prove to be fruitful since today I spent 5 hours in the lab reconstructing what we tore down.

If anyone is coming to B-Norm, give me a call and we'll hang out.  If you're nice, I'll house you for your stay, too.

5/21/07 - Strep one...you're out!

So after three days of grueling agony, I finally had the sense to go to Health Services to get diagnosed and get some amox.  I think it sucks, but since my throat feels like its closing up, I should probably do something about that.

I was looking around the other day and noticing all these posers that are starting to get blogs...writing about things that people don't care about in the hopes that they will get a few hits on their website and people will love them just a little bit more.  Fortunately for me, I'm cooler because I still have my own web domain whereas those people have to use blogspot or some other ridiculously overused website in order to be heard.  Then again, I realize that I have nothing important to say.  I just keep the few people I know updated on my life, even though no one really reads it anymore.  I get about 3 hits per day, but nothing substantial.  It seems that most of the hits on my website that I have registered are from Bloomington anyways which means it's me checking on my site to make sure it's up.  But I don't care, I don't need the love and support of a hit counter!  I can just tell you guys that I finally put my Bay STL pictures up!  Yep, it happened and you can go to them right now!  Do it! Go! Get on it!

Experimental Physics, my May Term course, is killing me.  I want to just curl up in a ball and stop writing 20 page papers and spending 10 hours in lab 6 days a week.  Yesterday, Sunday, I went rollerblading for a few hours with the girl and didn't start working on my 20 page paper due today until it got dark out.  Saturday I spent about five hours writing my theory out which ended up being ten pages double spaced.  The rest of the paper is just fluff, lol.  But regardless, I'm done with it and I'm done with typing for awhile because its monotonous!!!

4/25/07 - Weather...damn you

So, the past month of weather has been absolutely atrocious.  This damn state can't figure out what it wants to do!  Anyways, this is complicated by the fact that it's also mind-numbingly cold in my room since my roommate likes to keep his window wide open.  I've been in here for 15 minutes and I already can't feel my hands.  I'm going to break the air conditioner if he tries to turn it on...

This is finals week, I haven't written a blog in almost a month due to the stress, nor have I posted my pictures from Mississippi.  I plan on doing that when I get the time at the beginning of summer break.  I promise!  There will be a few changes to the website.  I will be updating the blog on a regular basis because I'll have a lot more time on my hands and I have a new Analytics program from Google which tracks where all the visitors to my website come from, which page they leave from and whatnot.

I've finally gotten over my cold and it's chilly out again.  I'm hoping I don't re-sicken myself.  I apparently get sick if I breathe in cold air during the night.  My throat gets raw and makes me cough and the coughing makes my throat worse and I become susceptible to some crap and :: poof :: I'm sick...  I don't like this pattern, this is the third time I've had a bad cold due to this type of behavior.  Melissa got the Chronic from me, too, but she didn't get hit with it as hard.  Lucky Her.

Finals studying is calling my name, because it's got my number, and I'm pegged to the wall with Quantum Physics.  I CAN'T WAIT TO END THAT CLASS!!! Weeee!

3/30/07 - Day...oops, I guess I forgot (picture by indexed.blogspot)

So I forgot to keep up with the days.  The rest of the week was mediocre and went by without incident.  Bourbon Street in New Orleans was pretty damn awesome.  We walked down that at night and got lost trying to find where our van was parked.  It was a fun adventure.  Starting Wednesday night, I didn't go to sleep before 2am every night because I was up in the lounge having awesome philosophical conversations with Melissa.

By Friday, we had almost completely painted the main house, had a roof put on, installed cabinets, made the porch, and other stuff.  I went to the secondary site with a few other teammates on Thursday and Friday in order to do a pre-build which includes preparing the foundation for the walls and making a shed in the back to store stuff on-site that belongs to Habitat.  We finished Friday with most of the major operations and just barely finished the shed at the secondary work site.

The drive home was uneventful and I picked up an extra passenger, Melissa.  It took about 13 hours and my truck spent the most gas of any vehicle on the trip, which I was embarrassed about, but hey, I couldn't help it.  When we got home, I stayed up through all hours of the night watching movies, good times.  The pictures will be up whenever I get unlazy, which should be some time this weekend.  The photo-bucket account has over 800 pictures on it alone.

It was a great time, and below you can find at least the first three days of what went on.  And in the end, Sherman redeemed himself and I think he's a good kid.  Just for the record.
